Patna: RJD Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha has not received permission to visit Pakistan. This news was given by Manoj Jha himself. Manoj Jha told that the central government refused to give political permission to his visit to Pakistan. Manoj Jha was to deliver a lecture on 'Role of Political Parties in Defense of Democratic Rights,' a function organized in the memory of human rights activist Asma Jehangir in Lahore, Pakistan on 23 October.

Manoj Jha told that he was given FCR permission from the Ministry of Home Affairs. But the Foreign Ministry refused permission citing political reasons. The RJD MP termed the rejection of the application as unfortunate. Manoj Jha said that this visit would give him an opportunity to highlight the great tradition of Indian political parties in the fight for the democratic rights of the people.

At the same time, Jha told that Asma Jahangir was an activist fighting for the rights of minorities in Pakistan. She passed away in 2018. He said that permission had been received from the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the Foreign Grants (Regulation) Act. But the Ministry of External Affairs did not give him political permission. He said that he gets an opportunity on behalf of the Indian Parliament to explain how we fight for the democratic rights of the people on the streets and in the Parliament. According to Manoj Jha, he was to go to Pakistan via the Wagah border on 20 October and return to India on 24 October.
