Bengaluru: At least seven persons were killed and 26 others were injured in a tragic collision between a passenger bus and a lorry on the outskirts of Hubli, Karnataka. The accident happened early Tuesday morning on the Pune-Bengaluru Highway, according to authorities.

The injured have been brought to KIMS hospital in Hubli for treatment, while the families of the deceased are being called to hand over the bodies, according to the police. The drivers of both vehicles perished on the spot, the police officials said.

According to authorities, the passenger bus was travelling from Kolhapur to Bangalore when it collided with a lorry travelling towards Dharwad at around 12:30 a.m. as the bus driver was attempting to overtake a tractor. Meanwhile, the incident has been reported to the police. More research is being carried out.
