BTS was just named the official ambassador of the 2030 Busan World Expo. The trio will perform for free as part of a campaign to support Busan's candidacy to host the World Expo, it was then revealed. However, there have been a number of unfortunate events since then, the most recent of which is the city of Busan's unwillingness to cover the cost of the concert.

Even though there was no official statement from HYBE Labels at the beginning of August, various media outlets reported that the firm had agreed to host the performance for free. A few days later, HYBE issued a statement reiterating that the event will definitely be free. Since it seemed like Hybe was nearly forced into consenting to this, many fans regarded it as a warning sign.

The venue was the next point of contention. The performance will take place in the Busan Port International Passenger Terminal Outdoor Parking Lot, according to a statement from the Busan Metropolitan Government. The public viewed the location as being exceedingly unfeasible since it lacked the infrastructure needed to accommodate a footfall of 100,000 people. Additionally, it was hypothesized that this choice was influenced by Park Hyung Jun, the mayor of Busan, who owns property nearby and would have benefited from such a significant increase in traffic. The concert was eventually moved to the Busan Asiad Main Stadium.

The Busan Metropolitan Government has now claimed that neither the city nor the Expo committee has the cash to support the concert, according to recent reports that surfaced on September 7 KST. They insisted that HYBE should get sponsors to pay the bill instead. A concert of this size may cost roughly 7.00 billion KRW (about $5.10 million USD), according to industry analysts.

Fans are now outraged by what looks to be a persistent effort on the part of the government to milk out BTS's influence for their own agenda. Many fans were already concerned about the ongoing complications involving the event.

HYBE has so far stated that they aim to invite additional businesses to take part as official event sponsors, but they have not yet disclosed any names. Major South Korean companies including Samsung, LG, Lotte, and SK have declared that they have not received any requests for sponsorship and that they have no desire to pay for such expenses.
