Palghar: The case of two priests being attacked along with looting in a temple in Baliwali, under Palghar district of Maharashtra has come to light. This incident took place about a month after the brutal beating of two sadhus in Palghar. An official said that the incident occurred late Thursday night at 12.30 pm.
He said that three armed men entered the Jagrit Mahadev temple and ashram in Baliwali under Vasai taluka. They said that the three attacked the temple's chief priest Shankaranand Saraswati and his aide and looted items worth Rs 6,800 and escaped. Giving information about the matter to the media, the official said that these three also vandalized the temple.
They have reported that both priests suffered minor injuries. In-charge of Virar police station said that a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Earlier on April 16, two sadhus and their driver were beaten to death by a mob in Gadchinchale of Palghar district. So far more than 150 people have been arrested in this case.
