Rohit Sharma, who is in a career super form has scored a brilliant century against Sri Lanka on Saturday (6 July) to record several. This is Rohit's fifth century in this World Cup and also the first player in the world to score five centuries in the same World Cup. He has also equalled Sachin Tendulkar's record. This is Rohit's 27th odi century in his ODI career.

Rohit Sharma scored 103 runs on 94 balls against Sri Lanka and struck out 13 fours and two sixes in his innings. Rohit's fifth century in the current World Cup and he had earlier scored 104 against Bangladesh and 102 against England. He scored 140 against Pakistan and 122 against South Africa.

Rohit has also equalled Kumar Sangakkara's record of scoring the highest century in the same World Cup. Sri Lanka's legendary player Kumar Sangakkara scored four centuries in the 2015 World Cup played in Australia and New Zealand.
Rohit Sharma has also equalled his compatriot Sachin Tendulkar's record of scoring the highest 6 centuries in the ICC World Cup. Sachin has played 45 games in six World Cups between 1992 and 2011 and has scored six centuries. Rohit Sharma has equalled Sachin in just two World Cups. Rohit has hit five centuries in the 2015 World Cup and another in this World Cup.
