New Delhi: Team India vice-captain Rohit Sharma says it is too early to set the team's batting order for the 2021 T20 World Cup and captain Virat Kohli's start of the innings with him in the final T20 International against England was just a strategic move.

After India's victory in the fifth T20 match, skipper Virat Kohli said that he will also take on the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) and would like to play in the top order in the T20 World Cup in India later this year. Rohit said after winning the T20 series on Saturday, "There is a lot of time in the T20 World Cup. Then it is too early to talk about what our balloting will be. We have to sit down and decide what will be the most favorable for the team."

Rohit Sharma added that "The decision to get Virat Kohli started the innings today was merely a strategic step, as we wanted to put an extra bowler in the team and exclude a batsman and unfortunately KL Rahul had to sit out what was a tough decision." Rohit said, "Rahul is our main player in limited-overs, especially in this format. Looking at the current form, the team management decided to land with the best final. This does not mean that Rahul's name will not be considered in the future. It was just for a match. Things can change when the World Cup is close."
