Roopa Ganguly played Draupadi in BR Chopra's Mahabharata. On the show, everyone was convinced by her performance. Mahabharata is being telecast again in lockdown. Roopa Ganguly revealed many things related to the shooting of Mahabharata in a special conversation with a media reporter. Roopa also shared the atmosphere of the set and the fun moments there. Roopa Ganguly said - there used to be an atmosphere full of competition on the set. Everyone thought that he had done well, now I should do better than that. Everyone used to practice their dialogue repeatedly. It was there that we were living our character for 2 years. In my case, before and after Vastra Haran scene, I was never friendly with Dushasan. He was a good person, yet I did not talk to him much. I loved Karnal's character. Pankaj Dheer, who does this, is a very good person, his role was also good.
It happens when you start living your role. When you practice dialogue, you start believing in it. For Mahabharata, Roopa Ganguly had to speak Hindi, she is basically Bengali. In such a situation, she had to face some challenges in speaking Hindi. Roopa said- It was very difficult for me to speak in Hindi during the shooting of Mahabharata. But Roopa, there was a sentence on top of my food, 2 pages, very big. Speaking of a line, I was stuck in the middle. I could not speak it properly. The seniors were also on the set then. Then suddenly Raza sir came and said- a Bengali Rasgulla fan, how will he speak Hindi? After this I felt like crying. I am very emotional, everyone knew this.
That's why they knew I would start crying. My tears were about to come. Then our boss understood and announced the evening break and asked me to go to my room. He said he will do something else until I am ready. He told me - I believe that you will do this in one take. Because I have always been a One Tech Artist. In 99 percent of the cases, I have shot in a take. Roopa Ganguly said that whenever she used to pronounce wrong on the set, she was assisted by the assistant director, cameraman, line man present there. Roopa said- I used to say every word in front of everyone 15-20 times. Everyone used to laugh But I used to practice Unless I speak well without getting stuck.
