The company sold 2,472 units in the domestic Indian market in May, but declined to 1,751 units in June. Total sales of 650 twins in April were 3,411, reaching 4,007 units in May and 4,110 units in June. Royal Enfield, the only 650cc bikes in less than 3 lakh, has made the competition in the Indian market stiff by launching 650cc bikes at an aggressive starting price of Rs 2.5 lakh. Currently, there are only 650cc bikes in the country, priced at less than Rs 3 lakh. That's why these bikes are being liked a lot. The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is priced at Rs 2.5 lakh and the Continental GT is priced at Rs 2.65 lakh.
The two bikes are powered by a 648cc, oil-cooled, parallel-twin engine. The engine produces 47bhp at 7,250rpm and 52Nm of torque at 5,250rpm. The bike is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and slip-assist clutch. The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 weighs 202 kg and the Continental GT 650 weighs 198 kg without fuel. The Interceptor 650 is designed for long-distance riding. The Continental GT 650 Cafe Racer is a motorcycle.The Interceptor 650 features a 13.7-litre and a slightly smaller 12.5-litre fuel tank. The Interceptor has a seat of 804mm high and 789mm high in Continental. The company expects its sales to grow in India as well.
