Another sighting of the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 being tested on Indian roads. The Himalayan 450 is anticipated to be one of a number of larger mid-capacity models from Royal Enfield and is anticipated to have both an entirely new engine and chassis. The goal is to expand on the low-cost adventure concept that the Himalayan pioneered for Royal Enfield while also giving it additional sass and power.
Although the bike could only be seen from the rear in the video, the disguised test mule was visible. A few details about the bike were seen in the video, including the upright seating position and high-set rear fender that houses the licence plate and taillight. A saree guard, which is a required addition in India, a small, vertical fly screen, and a high-set, circular instrument pod were also visible.
The design of the motorcycle, while similar to the modern Himalayan, underwent a lot of design alterations, as seen in earlier photos of the vehicle captured on international roads. In addition to having what appeared to be a larger and longer gasoline tank, the 450 appeared to have a longer wheelbase than the 411. The test mule has front and rear long travel suspension and was equipped with modern 411 features like the jerry can holders next to the fuel tank.
The Himalayan 450 can be seen in the image to have long travel suspension, an extended fuel tank, a long split seat, and an exposed tail portion. The wheelbase of the bike appears to be longer than the Himalayan 411's. The modern Himalayan retains the short flyscreen and the jerrycan holders around the gasoline tank. The Himalayan 450 test bike also has a bigger front wheel and a staggered wheel configuration. Disc brakes on both ends were also evident in the pictures.
Regarding the engine, the new Himalayan 450 is anticipated to receive a larger capacity liquid-cooled engine, though specifics have not yet been confirmed. The engine is probably going to have two overhead cams, and it might be connected to a 6-speed transmission with a slip-and-assist clutch. It's anticipated that the redesigned Himalayan 450 will go on sale sometime in 2019.
