Imphal: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has strongly denounced the recent killing of women and children in Manipur. The victims were reportedly held captive for several days before their deaths. The RSS has urged both the central and state governments to take prompt action to resolve the ongoing violence in the region.

In a statement, the Manipur unit of the RSS highlighted that the conflict, which began on May 3 last year, has been ongoing for 19 months without resolution. They emphasized the severe suffering endured by innocent people due to the prolonged violence.

"The ongoing violence has caused immense distress to innocent civilians. The RSS in Manipur condemns the inhumane and brutal killing of women and children who were held captive," said the organization.

The RSS described the killings as cowardly acts that go against the values of humanity and peaceful coexistence. They called on the government to act with sincerity in ending the conflict as quickly as possible.

Last weekend's violence saw mobs targeting and vandalizing over two dozen properties, including homes of ministers, MLAs, and offices of political parties, particularly in the Imphal East and Imphal West districts. These attacks followed the discovery of six bodies in Jiribam on November 15 and 16.

The deceased, who have not yet been identified by their families, are believed to be three women and three children who had been missing from Jiribam district since November 11. Their bodies were found near the junction of the Jiri and Barak rivers, close to the Manipur-Assam border. They were transported to Silchar Medical College and Hospital in Assam for post-mortem examinations.

Earlier, Manipur Police reported a clash on November 11 involving the CRPF, during which 10 suspected Kuki militants were killed. In a separate incident, militants abducted 10 people from a relief camp in the Borobekra sub-division of Jiribam district.

During search operations in the village of Jakuradhor, two elderly civilians—Maibam Kesho Singh, 75, and Laishram Barel, 61—were found dead. Another person was found alive and rescued, while another managed to return to the police station on his own. However, six individuals, including three women and three children, remained missing.

Local Meitei groups allege that the missing women and children were abducted by Kuki militants before being brutally killed.
