NEW DELHI: Criminal defamation case filed by Rajesh Kunte of RSS against Rahul Gandhi was herd in Bhiwandi Court and Next date of hearing is August 10.

 Kunte had filed the case against the Congress President for claiming at an election rally on March 6, 2014 that RSS had killed Mahatma Gandhi.

Earlier Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday filed a petition saying not guilty before the Bhiwandi court in Maharashtra which framed charges against him in links with a defamation case filed against him by a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activist.

As per the reports of ANI, the court allowed the framing of charges against Rahul Gandhi under Section IPC 499 and 500.

Rahul Gandhi had arrived in Mumbai this morning to appear before the Bhiwandi court. 

On a related note the Congress scion had failed to appear before the court last month and his lawyer had filed plea urging the court for an exemption from personal appearance.

The Rahul Gandhi had courted controversy and invited a legal trouble for alleging that the "RSS was behind the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.''

On January 17 The Bhiwandi Court had directed the Congress president to depose before it in connection with the case.
