RSS worker attacked filmmaker Priyanandan over social media post on Sabarimala, poured cow dung water

Thrissur (Kerala): A suspected RSS activist on Friday attacked national award winning director Priyanandan over his social media post on the contentious Sabarimala issue.

The attack took place early in the morning when Priyanandan was out of his home.

A police officer at the Cherpu Police station said Filmmaker was attacked by the suspected right-wing activist near his home. The police officer said "He was beaten up and water mixed with cow dung was flung on him. A probe is on.

Priyanandan told the police said a person approached him while he was out of his home in the morning and asked him to identify himself. Sharing Incidnet, Priyanandan told "It appears that this person was waiting for me. He came after me, hit me, poured cow dung water on me. All this happened around 9 am. Generally I take a walk on this particular route everyday around 7 am, but today I got delayed. This is not a one-man attack, there are others behind this.”

The  director suspected that he was attacked over his recent social media post on Sabarimala Temple issue which has been in the midst of a row over the entry of women belong to age group os10 to 50 since the September 28 last year SC’s verdict.
