Chidambaram on farmers' protest: 'truth is that no one was consulted'

Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram today attacked the Central government over the cancellation of the RTI application by NITI Aayog activist Anjali Bhardwaj. Anjali Bhardwaj had sought information on agricultural laws through RTI. Chidambaram made a series of tweets on Sunday. Chidambaram also mentioned Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland in a tweet. He said that the CM committee on agriculture formed by NITI Aayog completed its deliberations in September 2019 and its report has been submitted after 16 m. So far that report has not appeared before the NITI Aayog Governing Council! Why no one knows anything and will not respond either!

Centre to cordon off the government: Junha has revealed that Chidambaram in another tweet said that the RTI request made through Anjali Bhardwaj had been rejected. He said, "I salute Anjali Bhardwaj for her tenacity and access to this information. Chidambaram criticized the central government's stand on agitating against the new agricultural laws.

In December, Chidambaram tweeted that the agitating farmers were being called Khalistan, Pak and Chinese agents, Maoists, and a family of piece-piece gangs. If all these categories are removed, which means not a single farmer among the thousands of protesters. If there is no farmer, why is the government talking to them again?

Supreme Court's decision welcomed: As per the information received, the Supreme Court's intervention in the case was welcomed and said that the Supreme Court's concern over the farmers' agitation was high and the decision to constitute a committee to find a solution was very reasonable. Demonstrations against agricultural laws have been going on since August 9. The next round of rounds between the farmers and the central government is scheduled for January 19.
