Chennai: The spot-fixing scandal in the IPL in 2013 caught a lot of controversies. Due to this, Chennai Super Kings, an important team of IPL, was also banned. The major name that came up in this episode was Gurunath Meiyappan, son-in-law of N. Srinivasan, former chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India was banned for life for this reason. Now Rupa Gurunath, daughter of his wife i.e. N. Srinivasan, has been elected as the head of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association.

Rupa Gurunath was elected the President of the State Cricket Association at the 87th Annual General Meeting of TNCA held in Chennai. The election was held on the basis of TNCA rules and on Thursday, 26 September, he was elected unopposed as the President of the State Cricket Association.
