Mumbai:Friday,13 May 2016: The rupee criticized by 17 paise to 66.79 beside the USD in early trade, due to improved demand for the American exchange from importers during a inferior opening of the domestic equity market.

The forex dealers said, ‘Further, progress in industrial production dipping to 0.1 % in March and retail inflation soared to 5.39 per cent in April, also put pressure on the rupee’

Meanwhile, the US dollar's faintness in contradiction of some currencies foreign capped the losses.

On Thursday, the domestic unit had lost 6 paise to close at 66.62 due to higher greenback in the foreign market.

However, the standard BSE Sensex down 238.12 points, or 0,92 % , to trade at 25,552.10 in early trade.
