Mumbai:April 22, 2016,the rupee lowered by 15 paisa despite the dollar at the Inter-bank Foreign Exchange market in today’s early trade on hiked demand for the American currency from importers and banks.

Dealers aforesaid, “a firm dollar against some global currencies overseas and a lower opening of the domestic equity market weighed.”

The rupee had fell by 18 paise to end at 66.40 in yesterday's trade on fresh need for the US dollar from banks and importers against weakness in the greenback globally.

However, the benchmark BSE Sensex drop 72.01 points, or 0.28 %, to 25,808.37 in early trade.
