Russia releases first batch of COVID19 vaccine 'Sputnik V' for public

Moscow: Russia has released the first batch of coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V to its citizens. The Russian Health Ministry has informed that the regional delivery of the vaccine is planned soon. The vaccine has been manufactured by the Gamleya National Research Centre of Epidemiology and Microbiology and the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).

The Health Ministry said in a statement, "Sputnik V has been issued for civil circulation after passing quality tests in the lab of the medical regulator Roszdravnadzor. The Russian Health Ministry had registered the coronavirus vaccine 'Sputnik V' on August 11. Russian President Vladimir Putin himself announced that Russia has made the first vaccine of coronavirus. He also said that his daughter has also been vaccinated.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin expressed hope on Sunday that most residents of the Russian capital would be vaccinated with coronavirus within a few months. According to the health ministry, the first batch of vaccine is also planned to be supplied soon in other parts of the country. The figure of total deaths worldwide from corona infections has crossed 890000 on Monday, so the whole world needs a vaccine at the earliest.
