New Delhi: On the border tension with China, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said on Thursday that the events in the last year in East Ladakh have severely affected the relations of the two countries and the relationship can be further enhanced only when the relationship based on mutual respect, sensitivity, common interest. Jaishankar further said that the relationship between India and China is at a crossroads and the choices made at this time will have an impact not only on both countries but on the whole world.
Addressing the 13th All India Conference on Chinese Studies Online, Jaishankar said, "The events in the year 2020 have really increased unexpected pressure on our relationship." Regarding the East Ladakh deadlock, Jaishankar said that the events in East Ladakh last year have severely affected the relations between the two countries. He said that the agreements that have been reached should be fully followed.
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said that the Line of Actual Control (LAC) should be strictly adhered to and respected. Foreign Minister made it clear that no unilateral efforts to change the status quo will be accepted.
