S Korean officials to inspect N Korea's preparations for the reunion

A group of South Korean functionaries have headed towards North Korea and are supposed to reach there Today. They intend to inspect the facilities arranged for the scheduled reunion of families that were separated in the Korean War of 1950-53.

Kim Byung-Dae, a senior ministry official in charge of the humanitarian cooperation, shall head a team of 20-members. The South Korean team will cross the eastern border to pay a visit to Mount Kumgang where the reunions shall be hosted, scheduled from Aug 20 to 26.

According to Yonhap, a ministry official informed, "To prepare for the reunions of the divided families on the occasion of the Aug. 15 (Liberation Day), the team will be sent to Mount Kumgang until June 29."

The team is being expected to inspect the hotels, reunion rooms and the facilities related to electricity, as the last reunions in October 2015 and since then, they have been left unused.
the inspection shall be followed by planning the repair work to be done in July and August to assure the reunion preparations proceed without an obstacle.

The pact was signed during a Red Cross meeting in Mount Kumgang, at a hotel, which was attended by the officials from the two Koreas.
