Shripati Panditradhyula Balasubrahmanyam, a well-known musician of Indian cinema, a voice-rich and amazing music director, was born on this day. Born on June 4, 1946, Bala Subramaniam is an Indian playback singer, actor, music director, singer and filmmaker. He is sometimes also known as SPB or Balu. Noted singer SP Balasubrahmanyam passed away on September 25 last year. Balasubrahmanyam was not only an amazing singer but also a great dubbing artist. He has also received the Nandi Award twice for dubbing. The Nandi Award is the highest honour of the Andhra Pradesh government for Telugu films, theatres and television.

Along with being singers, Balasubrahmanyam, Anil Kapoor, Girish Karnar, Mohanlal to Rajinikanth have been dubbing in Tamil or Telugu. He has worked in several Tamil and Telugu movies since his career. On the other hand, if you talk about Balasubrahmanyam in Hindi films, many songs like 'Sach Mere Yaar Hai', 'O Maria', 'Dil Deewana', 'Kabutar Ja Ja', 'Aja Sham Hooni Aayi', 'Meri Rang Mein Rangane', 'Didi Tera Devar Deewana, Pratham Pratham Pyaar Hai and 'Roza Jaaneman' were famous in his hit list. Balasubrahmanyam had won 6 National Awards, which were also in four different languages - Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. Born in South India and singing in many languages, SP Balasubrahmanyam openly said that he had the spirit and inspiration to sing songs Hindi, especially he was a big fan of Mohammad Rafi.

Very few people would know that Balasubrahmanyam was interested in music, but his dream was to become an engineer. Not only is he popular with singing in the world of music but has also done a lot of work as a music director. In 1966, he sang his first song in the Tamil film Sri Sri Seema Ramanna.
