Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India] Oct 27 (NT): Swami Sandeepananda Giri's Ashram here was damaged by a group of anonymous men early on Saturday. Two cars and a scooter, belonging to the Ashram, were also set to fire by the attackers.

Worth mention here Sandeepananda Giri is one of the supporters of the Supreme Court's judgment that permitted the entry of women of all ages inside Kerala's Sabarimala Temple. He has been continually allegedly receiving threats for supporting the Supreme court's order.

As getting the information, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, accompanied by state finance minister Thomas Issac and state Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran, paid visit to the preacher and damned the attack on his Ashram.

"Physical attacks happen when you can't deal ideologically. Will not allow anyone to take law and order in their hands. Those who are intolerant towards Swami's activities attacked his ashram," Vijayan was quoted by ANI as asserting.

The soil of hilly shrine Sabarimala witnessed strings of protests by devotees and priests as few women tried to arrive at the sanctum following the top court's verdict  that came on September 28.

Till the date over 2,800 people have been arrested and 490 cases have been registered against protestors who disallowed women from entering the place of worship.
