Mumbai: Sachin Tendulkar, the world's great batsman known as the God of Cricket, has described Test cricket as a recipe to make cricket enjoyable. Tendulkar said that if Test cricket is played on good pitches, it can be quite entertaining and he believes the 22-yard pitch is crucial for the long format. To support his point, Tendulkar exemplified that there was a good competition between Steve Smith and Jofra Archer on the pitch created for the Ashes Test at Lord's last week.

"The importance of Test cricket depends on the pitch. Cricket can never be boring if you give good pitches. It will always be exciting moments during the match, bowling spells will be exciting, good batting and people want to see it," he said on the sidelines of the Mumbai Half Marathon. "Unfortunately Smith got injured," Tendulkar said of the rivalry between Archer and Smith. It was a big setback for him but Test cricket was exciting when Jofra Archer was challenging him.

It suddenly turned exciting and all the attention went to Test cricket. Sachin Tendulkar has scored 15921 runs in the 200 Test series. He stressed the need to prepare pitches that are a bit interesting to rekindle interest in the long draft. "I think if we make interesting pitches, Test cricket will be interesting again. But if the pitches are flat, the challenges of Test cricket will remain.
