Veenu Mankad joins ICC's Hall of Fame, Sachin says 'He is great player'

New Delhi: Former Team India batsman master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar has expressed happiness over the inclusion of former cricketer Veenu Mankad in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Hall of Fame. Sachin described Mankad as one of the best players in India's cricket history. Tell us that ICC had included the names of 10 former players under the special edition of its Hall of Fame on Sunday.

Before Mankad, Team India's Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar have been included. Mankad is the seventh Indian player to achieve this feat. Sachin tweeted from his official Twitter handle, "I am very happy that India great cricketer Veenu Mankad ji's name has been included in the Hall of Fame of ICC. He was one of the most brilliant players in India's cricket history."

Veenu Mankad has been named as a post-war (post-World War) player in this list of ICC between 1946-1970. Mankad had participated in 44 Tests for India as an all-rounder. In which he scored 2,109 runs at an average of 31.47. In bowling, Mankad took a total of 162 wickets at an excellent average of 32.32. As well as being an opening batsman, he was also a very brilliant left-arm spinner of his era. He was also one of India's best all-rounders.
