Indore: In the case of killing a 7-year-old girl in Indore, the financial capital of Madhya Pradesh, the court has sentenced the culprit to death. Saddam, who lives in Azad Nagar, kidnapped the girl with bad intentions and after failing to rape her, stabbed the innocent to death. Additional Sessions Judge and Special Judge (POSCO Act) Surekha Mishra sentenced Saddam (31) to death and also imposed a fine of Rs 9,000 on him while ordering the to pay Rs 3 lakh as compensation from the exchequer to the family of the deceased girl

The court said in its decision that, 'The barbaric manner in which the accused has committed this crime by crossing the limits of inhumanity, it is clear that the accused is dangerous for the whole society, a curse for the society and his rehabilitation is not possible.' District Public Prosecution Officer Sanjeev Srivastava said Saddam was charged with murder and kidnapping under provisions of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POSCO) Act. He said, 'Saddam kidnapped a 7-year-old girl with the intention of raping her on 23 September 2022, when she was playing outside her grandmother's house in the Azad Nagar area. He took her to his home but failed to rape her when she raised an alarm. After which Saddam stabbed the girl 29 times and killed her.'

Srivastava further said that during the trial in the court, the biggest argument of the defense side was that Saddam's mental condition is not right and he is taking treatment for mental illness. But, we told the court against this argument that when Saddam kidnapped the girl, she was playing with a boy, but he kidnapped only the girl because he intended to rape girl. The court took note of our argument. After committing the crime, Saddam came out of his house and threatened eyewitnesses that if any person informed the police about his crime, he would kill them too.

According to the report, a CCTV camera installed in a mosque in the Azad Nagar area captured footage of Saddam kidnapping the girl, which helped conclusively prove the crime. His fingerprints were found on the knife recovered from Saddam's possession and the DNA report of the case also confirmed his involvement in the kidnapping and murder of the girl. Special Public Prosecutor Sushila Rathore said the prosecution produced 23 witnesses in court, including a 12-year-old boy, to prove Saddam's remorse.
