Bhopal: BJP candidate from Bhopal Lok Sabha seat, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur sparked row over her statement saying that former Mumbai Anti-Terrorist Squad chief Hemant Karkare who treated her “very badly” died because of his karma. Thakur is an accused in the 2008 Malegaon blasts case. "I called Hemant Karkare and asked him to let me go if there is no evidence (against me). He (Karkare) said that he will bring evidence but will not leave me. I told him -- You will be ruined," she said. She also accused the cops of inflicting mental torture saying that she was threatened every day and was told to confess for crimes she never committed in the first place.
"Maine kaha tera (Hemant Karkare) sarvanash hoga.Theek sava mahine mein sutak lagta hai. Jis din main gayi thi us din iske sutak lag gaya tha.Aur theek sava mahine mein jis din atankwadiyon ne isko maara, us din uska anth hua," said Sadhvi Pragya.
Karkare, who died in action during the Mumbai terror attacks, was the man responsible for tracking down Sadhvi’s motorcycle which was used in the blast. Her candidature has been opposed by the opposition parties including the Congress who blasted the saffron party for fielding a terror accused who is out on bail due to poor health.
