New Delhi: A woman in Delhi's Timarpur has accused Sahitya Academi award-winning writer Nilotpal Mrinal of raping her. The Timarpur police station has registered a case of rape on the complaint of the victim and started an investigation into the matter. Delhi Police has said that a case of rape has been registered in the Timarpur police station area.

The FIR, filed on the basis of a woman's complaint, states that writer Nilotpal Mrinal raped her for 10 years on the pretext of marriage. The FIR also said that a police officer called the woman's father and said that she was blackmailing him to extort money from Nilotpal. The 32-year-old victim is originally from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. She has been living in a rented house in Delhi for 10 years and is preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam in Mukherjee Nagar.

According to the victim, she befriended Nilotpal, a writer from Jharkhand who lives in Delhi, on Facebook about 10 years ago. The two were starting to get along with each other. The victim has alleged that in 2013, the accused forcibly raped her. The accused pretended to be married to save himself from police action. Then he avoided marriage. The victim has alleged that after the accused's changed behaviour, her mobile phone revealed to her that Nilotpal had an affair with many other girls. She then lodged a complaint with the Timarpur police station. At the same time, the police have started investigating the case.
