Hyderabad: The accused Raju, who sexually assaulted a six-year-old in Hyderabad, committed suicide. His body was found on the railway track near Pamanuru in Ghanpur division between Ghatkesar and Warangal. He was identified on the basis of the tattoo made on the hand.

On September 9, a six-year-old girl resident of Singareni Colony, Saidabad, Hyderabad is accused of rape and murder. The accused had absconded after the incident and the police had formed special teams to nab the accused. The development had sparked massive outrage across the city and the state, with many including state ministers demanding that the accused be 'encountered' like the accused in the Disha case in Hyderabad last year. There was outrage among the people due to this incident.

Amid mounting pressure on the state government to nab the accused, Director General of Police M Mahendar Reddy was personally monitoring the case. He directed the police commissioners to intensify the search operation. The Commissioner's Task Force and Special Operation Team (SOT) personnel were also deployed for the massive search operation. The police has also announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh to anyone who helps the police in identifying and apprehending the accused. Posters as 'wanted' were also pasted on buses and auto-rickshaws.

Reacting to the suicide of the accused, Minister KT Rama Rao tweeted, "Just informed by Telangana DGP that the animal that raped the girl child has been traced and found dead on a railway track at Station Ghanpur Is."
