In the Australian Open Super Series women's singles quarter-finals the Saina Nehwal was defeated by the Chinese Sun Yu by 17-21, 21-10, 17-21 in a match that lasted for one hour and 18 minutes.
P.V. Sindhu was knocked out of the series after going down against Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu Ying in the quarter-finals of the women's singles event.
Kidambi Srikanth, who was playing his third quarter-final in last five tournaments, outplayed fellow countryman B. Sai Praneeth.
