India's star badminton player Saina Nehwal lost to Japan's Akane Yamaguchi straight away in the game today, out of the Malaysian Open. The world number one player, Saina, beat world's second-ranked player Yamaguchi in the Akiyama Arena of Kuala Lumpur by 15-21, 13-21. In the last seven matches, Saina has lost to Japanese player for the sixth consecutive time.

Saina defeated Yamaguchi for the first time and the last time at the China Open in 2014. Yamaguchi made a splendid start in the first game, leading Saina 9-2. However, Saina broke the gap and brought the fight to 10-11, the Japanese player again made an 18-11 lead and finally, the game got its name. In the second game, Yamaguchi once again took the lead of 8-2 and won the next game and entered the next round of World Tour Super 750 tournament with a prize money of $ 7,00,000.

Indian shuttler PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth won their respective matches and made it to the pre-quarterfinals of the Malaysia Open World Tour Super 750 tournament.

Sindhu, who did not participate in the finals to be fully fit after winning silver in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, defeated the tough challenge of Japan's Aya Ohori in women's singles. In the opening match, he defeated world number 14 Uhori, 26-24 21-15. The third-seeded Indian will face Malaysia's Ying Ying Li on Thursday.
