Anurag Kashyap is one of the most loved filmmakers in Bollywood. The director is very vocal on different issues and frequently express his views on different issues. In a recent interview,  Anurag Kashyap said that the pan-India bandwagon is destroying Bollywood. Not only this he also thinks that Sairat film has destroyed the Marathi Cinema. The director further explained the reason.

During a recent discussion speaking about the current state of Bollywood and film Industry the director said, “I was talking to Nagraj and I told him Sairat destroyed Marathi cinema, the success of Sairat. Because suddenly people realized there is a possibility to make so much money so they stopped making those films. Everybody wanted to emulate Sairat.

He further opens up on Pan India films and its effect on social media said,  “With pan-India, what is happening right now is that everybody is trying to make a pan-India film. Success will be 5-10%. Films like Kantara and Pushpa give you courage to go out and tell your stories. But KGF2, however big the success, when you try and emulate that and set a project up, that’s when you start heading towards disaster. That’s the bandwagon that Bollywood destroyed itself on. You have to find films that give you courage.”.

On the professional front, Anurag Kashyap is now awaiting the release of his next film Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat, which premiered at the Marrakech Film Festival in Morocco on November 17. Slated to release in cinemas in January 2023, the Amit Trivedi musical stars Alaya F and Karan Mehta in his debut role. Anurag’s last directorial Dobaaraa was released in theatres this year. The Taapsee Pannu-starrer was a commercial failure even as it was praised by critics in moderation. Anurag had previously directed Choked, a Netflix film, which was released in 2020.
