New Delhi: The court on Tuesday sentenced Brijesh Thakur to remain behind bars till his last breath in the Muzaffarpur girl case. The Delhi-based Saket court completed the cross-examination on 4 February. The 11 February sentencing date was set. Being one of the most talked-about sexual harassment scandals in the home country, the girl's eyes were set on the punishment of the culprits. The CBI had pleaded guilty to most of the punishment.

The decision of the girl child house was postponed three times. In the January 20 hearing, the Saket court had convicted 19 accused, including Brajesh Thakur. The hearing was then adjourned on 28 January. On February 4, the court heard the arguments of the lawyers of all the convicts at the point of conviction. The CBI had demanded strict punishment from the court for all the culprits, including Brajesh Thakur.

It is noteworthy that the case of the girl child scandal came to light in the report of Tis (Tata Institute of Social Sciences) wing 'try'. In the girl child house run by Brajesh Thakur's Institution Seva Sankalp and Vikas Samiti, other gruesome incidents including rape of minor girls were carried out. A case was registered at Muzaffarpur Women's Police Station on 31 May 2018 after the report surfaced. Later, there was a storm in the political corridors regarding the girl child scandal. There was an uproar by the leaders of opposition parties from the Assembly to the Lok Sabha. Later, its investigation was handed over to the CBI.
