Salman Khurshid of the Congress on Sunday said it is difficult to refuse to accept the law passed by the state government by the Parliament. His statement is being linked to the ongoing protest on the Citizenship Amendment Act. Opposition to the citizenship law is not taking a name. Salman further said that it is difficult for the state government to refuse to follow the law passed by Parliament as constitutionalism. He said, 'For the law passed by the Parliament, the State Government cannot say that it will not follow it.'

Apart from this, he said that there is a great difference in the views of the state governments from the Center on this matter. Therefore, we will have to wait for the final verdict of the Supreme Court. Ultimately the Supreme Court will decide and till then this provision is provisional.

Kapil Sibal on Saturday said at the Kerala Literature Festival that no state can refuse to implement the law passed by the Parliament. It would be unconstitutional to deny it. Let us state that many state governments have refused to implement CAA. They are also demanding to take it back.
