Mumbai: NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede has once again caught everyone's attention with his frank statement. In fact, he has denied the allegations made recently by NCP leader and minister Nawab Malik against former Chief Minister and leader of opposition in the Assembly Devendra Fadnavis.

What Nawab Malik had said- In fact, Nawab Malik had recently alleged that "in October 2017, DRI raided the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai and recovered fake currency notes worth Rs 14.56 crore. Sameer Wankhede had the case at that time. Devendra Fadnavis had sought the help of Sameer Wankhede to hush up the whole issue. At that time, the case of Haji Arfat Shaikh's brother was suppresed. After that, an amount of Rs.14 crores was shown as 8 lakh 80 thousand and within a few days, the accused got bail. The case should have been handed over to the NIA, but it was not done.'' Not only that, but Nawab Malik had also said, "The brother of such an accused, Haji Arfat Shaikh was renamed as chairman of the Minority Commission by Devendra Fadnavis.''

Responding to Nawab Malik's allegations, Sameer Wankhede said, "The fake notes seized by DRI were worth Rs 10 lakh and not worth Rs 14.56 crore. Three persons were arrested in the case. The DRI had also approached the NIA over the case. It was the NIA that did not take up the case. In fact, Nawab Malik had recently alleged that the fake currency trade in the state was flourishing under Devendra Fadnavis's patronage.
