Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede is no longer going to investigate 6 cases including the cruise drugs case involving actor Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan. NCB has handed over 6 cases, including cruise cases, from the Mumbai unit to a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The SIT team is now scheduled to leave for Mumbai today to take action on these cases.

DDG Sanjay Kumar Singh to lead probe: Deputy Director General (North-West Region) of NCB Mutha Ashok Jain has said that the investigation has been conducted on an "administrative basis" and since these six cases have "broad and inter-state influence," he has been handed over to the operating unit in Delhi. The operating unit of the NCB has the jurisdiction of entire India and is currently headed by DDG Sanjay Kumar Singh. Singh is a 1996 batch Odisha cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. According to the information received, Sameer Wankhede, who is facing several personal and service-related issues, will continue as director of the Mumbai region of the agency. In addition to the cruise drug case, the case involving the son-in-law of Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Nawab Malik has also been taken from the Mumbai regional unit. But it is not yet clear whether the 2020 drug case involving actress Rhea Chakraborty has also been transferred from Mumbai to the operating unit. According to media reports, the agency has found some issues in the proceedings of these 6 cases and hence has been removed from the Mumbai unit.

This is just the beginning- Nawab Malik: Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik, who has made several allegations against Sameer Wankhede, has said that removing the NCB officer from the case is "just the beginning." NCP leader Malik said, "Sameer Wankhede has been removed from 5 cases including the Aryan Khan case. There are a total of 26 cases that need to be investigated. This is just the beginning. There is still a lot to do to clean the system and we will.'' NCB detained actor Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan and others in a cruise case on the intervening night of October 2-3 and Sameer is facing departmental vigilance inquiry after an independent witness in the Wankhede case claimed attempted extortion. Aryan Khan was released on bail on October 30.
