Jaipur: Six persons, including Latif Ahmad Baja, Ali Bhatt, Mirza Nisar, Abdul Goni, and Reis Beg, have been acquitted by the Rajasthan High Court in the 1996 Samleti bombing case. Five people have come out of Jaipur Central Jail on Tuesday and were arrested and jailed in 1996-97. They have spent 23 years in jail. They were reportedly lodged in Delhi and Ahmedabad jails. However, they have been released on parole or bail from time to time.

The main accused could not be proved.

The Acquittal of the accused has been stated by the Rajasthan High Court that the prosecutor has failed to provide evidence of a conspiracy against the accused in the case. The main culprit in the case, Abdul Hameed, has not been able to prove the links of the accused. Abdul Hameed's death sentence has been upheld by the Rajasthan High Court. After being released from jail on Tuesday, the five accused said they did not even know each other before being indicted by the Criminal Investigation Department (Crime Branch).

After coming out of jail, some of the stories were heard...

The 56-year-old rich beg is a resident of Agra. Abdul Goni, 57, is a resident of Doda in Jammu and Kashmir. While 42-year-old Latif Ahmad Baja, 48-year-old Ali Bhatt, 39-year-old Mirza Nisar is a resident of Srinagar. Before going to jail, Ali Bhatt had a carpet business, while Latif Ahmed Baja used to sell Kashmiri handcrafts in Delhi and Kathmandu. In addition, Mirza Nisar was studying and Abdul Goni ran a school.

"We had no information about the jail before we went to jail," said Abdul Goni, "We were separated from relatives while in jail. My mother, father and two uncles passed away. We were finally acquitted by the court, though who would bring him back to the years we spent in prison?
