You will be surprised to know that the famous dishes on the streets of India are not originally from India. Samosas, Gulab Jamun and Jalebis are some of them. Have a look at how and from where they were originated.

Samosa

Samosa is called street food in India. But do you know that samosa has not been invented by India and samosa word is not Hindi too? Rather it's Persian word. Samosa reaches India through the hills of Central Asia, which is today called Iran. Its real name is Sambusug. In Central Asian countries, it is called Somsa. In African countries, it is called Sambusa.

Jalebi
You all must be thinking that Jalebi is also made in India. But this word is not of Hindi. Jalebi is originally made from the Arabic word
jalabya. In Persian it is known as Jalbia and like India, it is equally of fame.

Gulab Jamun
Everyone is fond of Gulab Jamun everywhere in India. Not only this, black Gulab jamun and white Gulab Jamun are also two varieties of it. But the word Gulab Jamun is not a Hindi word. This is actually the Persian name. Gul means the means of flowers and berries means water. In Arab countries it is known as Lukmat al-Qadi.
