Legendary tech companies Samsung and OnePlus have decided to make most of the TVs in India. Samsung and OnePlus have partnered with Chinese electronics company Skyworth for this. There will be TV manufacturing at the facility centre in Hyderabad. Samsung is India's largest television brand. Also, OnePlus entered the Indian television market with a lot of noise last year. OnePlus has recently introduced a new range of premium TVs.

Samsung said that 85-90 percent of the television sold in India will now be manufactured in India. Apart from Samsung and OnePlus, companies like LG, Sony, Xiaomi, and Panasonic are already making TVs in India. According to both companies, TV manufacturing in India will be able to cut their expenses, as well as the benefit of zero import duty in India on the main component of open TV production - open cell TV panels. Apart from this, companies will not have to deal with the problem of the supply chain. The Government of India has been insisting on setting up mobile, TV manufacturing units in India for a long time.

The central government imposed import duty on open-cell TV panels in the year 2018 under this strategy. Because of this, Samsung stopped its TV production in the country. Since then, the company has been importing finished TVs from Vietnam on zero duties. But in 2019, the Indian government reduced the import duty on the open cell panel, so now Samsung and OnePlus have decided to make TV in India. Significantly, open-cell is an essential part of the LCD panel of a TV. 70 percent of the cost of manufacturing TV is spent on it.
