South Korean tech giant Samsung appears to have had a tough 2020 due to corona pandemic. The company reportedly won't be able to hit the 300 million phone sales mark for the first time in nine years.

According to a report by GSMArena,  Samsung confirmed to have shipped 189 million phones at the end of the third quarter of 2020. The number seems good to us considering the pandemic, but the company had set a target to reach 300 million shipments by the end of the year.  Now by the fourth quarter of 2020, the tech giant said to have reached only around 270 million shipments - 30 million below the 300 million mark.

Even after having a tough year, the company is reportedly expecting to hit 307 million shipments in 2021 by expanding its mid-range, low-end 5G smartphone series and promoting its foldable handsets. Out of which, 287 million units are going to be smartphones with 50 million likely to be flagship models, while the rest may be feature phones.
