It is not uncommon for celebrities to lend their voice for audiobook narrations, but for namma Sanchari Vijay it was a first and that too for the autobiography of the late Jnanpith awardee Girish Karnad. Vijay recently recorded the narration of Aadaadta Aayushya, which runs for about 15 hours.

Vijay says, “It was an exciting experience as I got to try out something new during the lockdown. Also, there is an increased interest in audiobooks these days, so I thought I should give it a try. I read the book, which is around 350 pages, before beginning to record, so as to understand the nuances perfectly. Girish Karnad’s journey is incredible; he has lived in England, Pune, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Uttara Karnataka and Dakshina Karnataka, so, there’s a wide range of words that have been used in the book as per the local culture of the region mentioned. This was a bit of a challenge, as I needed to get the diction right. I also had to rely on imagination, as there are mentions of places I have never been to, like, for instance, Saraswathipura in Dharwad. I have explained it to the best of my capability.”
