Sangrand, also known as Sankranti, marks the commencement of a fresh month in the Solar calendar. In the Lunar calendar, the day immediately following Masya or Puranmashi holds the significance of being the initial day of a month. It's worth noting that a majority of religious celebrations in India, such as Diwali, Holi, Gurpurab, and others, align with the Lunar calendar.
Sangrand (also known as Sankranti) of the month of Bhadon, or Bhadrapada, is scheduled for Thursday, August 17th, 2023. In the month of Bhadon, humans find themselves enshrouded in the deceptive cloak of worldly illusion, Maya. This is due to their vacillating minds, leading them to indulge in transient pleasures without attaining any meaningful accomplishments. Despite the extravagant adornments that these pleasures come wrapped in, they ultimately prove futile, and the efforts expended bear no fruit. As life concludes, one's physical form may even be likened to that of a malevolent entity. Those who were once close, beloved kin and family, may drift away and sever their ties.
The deity of death, Yama, shall take hold of the mortal vessel, ushering those responsible for wicked deeds into the realm of hellish suffering, without forewarning. The individual in question will lament their maleficent actions, quaking before Yama's transformation of their visage from dark to pallid due to overwhelming fear. It is imperative to comprehend that the human body is akin to a field: whatever seeds are sown therein shall yield analogous fruits. Thus, every action undertaken in this world begets a corresponding recompense.
O Nanak! Those who have sought sanctuary in the benevolent embrace of the Divine will find salvation aboard the vessel of the Lord's guidance, allowing them to traverse the tumultuous sea of existence with success. Therefore, in the month of Bhadon, individuals fortunate enough to be upheld by the nurturing presence of their beloved Guru shall not find themselves cast at the gates of damnation.
