New Delhi: Sanjay Arora will be the new Police Commissioner of Delhi. He will replace Rakesh Asthana. Sanjay Arora, a 1988 batch Tamil Nadu cadre IPS, has also been the Director General of ITBP. Sanjay Arora commanded the battalion of ITBP in Matli, Uttarakhand from 1997 to 2000. After becoming the same IPS, he worked in many positions in Tamil Nadu Police. He was the Superintendent of Police (SP) of the Special Task Force. Where he had achieved significant success against the Veerappan gang. He was awarded the CM's Gallantry Medal for gallantry and gallant action. In 1991, Sanjay Arora took training from NSG. Thereafter, he played a key role in the formation of the Special Security Group (SSG) that guards the Tamil Nadu CM. Actually, the activities of LTTE were at their peak in those days. In such a situation, he also took responsibility as the Superintendent of Police in many districts of Tamil Nadu.

Sanjay Arora is one of the few IPS who came to the rank of commandant on deputation in the paramilitary force. Sanjay Arora served in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on deputation as Commandant from 1997 to 2002.
