Mumbai: Senior Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has said that the Center and the government of Maharashtra should take note of this over the Maharashtra Karnataka border dispute. Raut said on Saturday that while the BJP and the central government talk a lot about violence in West Bengal, their workers are being targeted there, but no one is seeing unbridled.
Sanjay Raut said that for the past eight days, people who speak Marathi have been under attack in Belgaum. Nobody is talking about them. I appeal to CM Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar to go to Belgaum with an all-party delegation and raise the issue of this attack on our people. It is worth mentioning that on Friday, the Karnataka Defense Vedic activists had put a blackboard on the boards and hoardings written in the Marathi language in Belgaum and uprooted them. There were also reports of violence from some places regarding this. After which the Shiv Sena has strongly objected to this.
There has been a lot of dispute between Karnataka and Maharashtra about the issue of Belgaum, which seems to be increasing again in recent times. In fact, both states have been claiming rights over Belgaum located on the border of Karnataka and Maharashtra state. Belgaum is located on the border of Karnataka and Maharashtra, with a majority of Marathi speakers. Maharashtra has been claiming Belgaum on the basis that there is a large population of Marathi-speaking people, but this Belgaum district comes under Karnataka. This dispute is decades old. This dispute has been going on since independence. This case is also pending in the Supreme Court.
