New Delhi: The Modi government at the Centre has been very active in promoting Sanskrit since it came to power. The Sanskrit love of the government is well known. The RSS, the BJP's parent organisation, has often been advising the government to promote Sanskrit. This is the order in which the Government has decided to honour the scholars of this language. President Ram Nath Kovind announced the intention and mentioned the names of the scholars. The President will also felicitate the scholars of other languages.

Among these scholars are Prof. Kurukshetra. Shri Krishna Sharma, Prof. of Banaras. Couples Kishore and Pandit Manudev Bhattacharya, Professor of Delhi. 15 scholars, including Chand Kiran Saluja, will be given Certificate of Honour 2019. Apart from Sanskrit, the President has also announced certificate of honour and Maharshi Badryan Vyas 2019 to scholars from Pali, Prakrit, Arabic, Persian, Classical Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Oriya.

This year, in Sanskrit, Shripad Satyanarayan Murthy, Rajendra Nath Sharma, Prof. Ramji Thakur, Prof. Chand Kiran Saluja, Dr. Shri Krishna Sharma, Dr. V. Ramakrishna Bhatt, Scholar Janardhan Hegde, Dr. Kala Acharya, Prof. Harekrishna Satpathi, Pandit Satyadev Sharma, Banwari Lal Gaur, Dr. V.S. Karunakaran, Prof. Kishore Mishra, Pandit Manudev Bhattacharya and Subuddhi Charan Goswami will be honoured.

The names include Dr. Uma Shankar Vyas in Pali, Prof. Kamal Chand Sogani in Prakrit, Hampa Nagarajiah in Classical Kannada, Prof. Ravva Srihari in Classical Telugu, Dr. C.P. Achuthan Unni in Classical Malayalaya and Pandit Dr. Antaryami Mishra in Classical Oriya. The award is given by the Ministry of Human Resource Development with Certificate of Honour and Maharshi Badyan Vyas. Both these honours are announced on behalf of the President.
