New Delhi: Sara Pilot, sister of former Jammu and Kashmir CM and senior National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah, has challenged Omar's detention in the Supreme Court under the Public Security Act (PSA). On Monday, he moved the Supreme Court regarding this matter. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing on behalf of the petitioner, urged the bench headed by Justice NV Ramana to immediately list the matter for hearing.

Counsel Kapil Sibal has told the bench that he has filed a habeas corpus petition challenging Abdullah's custody under the Public Safety Act (PSA). The case should be heard this week. The bench has agreed to immediately list the case. However, no date has been set for hearing at present by the Supreme Court.

Let us tell you that under this strict law (PSA), the central government had filed a case against both former chief ministers on February 6. A few hours before this, his six-month precautionary detention period was about to end. Attacking the central government, Tamil Nadu's main opposition party DMK accused that the Public Safety Act (PSA) is a cruel law. He strongly condemned the extension of the custody of Kashmiri leaders.
