Sarat Chandra Bose was born on this day i.e. 6th September, 1889 in Cuttack Odisha, his mother and father's name was Janakinath Bose (father) and Prabhati Devi. He hailed from 24 Parganas, West Bengal. He belonged to the Kulin Kayastha family. Not only that, his father was a descendant of Bose of Mahinagar (South 24 Parganas), while his mother Prabhati Devi was part of the famous Dutt family of Hatkhola in north Kolkata. His parents had a total of 14 children, out of which six daughters and eight sons, including Left leader Sarat Chandra Bose, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and eminent cardiologist Dr. Sunil Chandra Bose. This is how the political career began: In 1936, Sarat Chandra Bose became the President of the Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee, and also served as a member of the All India Congress Committee from 1936 to 1947.

After Subhash's escape, Sharat Bose was arrested a day before he joined the cabinet minister, killed him in the Fazlul Haque government and then shifted to the Jail in Coonoor, after which his health started declining. He was released in September 1945 after a 4-year jail term. From 1946 to 1947, Sharat Bose led a Congress delegation to the Central Legislative Assembly. He strongly supported the formation of the Indian National Army by Subhas Chandra Bose and actively participated in the Quit India Movement. After the death of his brother in 1945, Sharat Bose led efforts to provide relief and assistance to the families of INA soldiers through the INA Defence and Relief Committee.  He was appointed as minister in a National Executive Council led by Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and was appointed member of the Interim Government for Works, Mines and Powers in 1946 under the Chairmanship of viceroy of India.

Not only that, Sarat Bose married Akhoy Kumar Dey and Subala Dey's daughter Biwabati Dey in 1909. From whom they had 8 children. His children included Amiya Nath Bose, a doctorate in chemistry and eminent engineers from Germany, Amiya Nath Bose, who participated in the Quit India Movement, became a Member of Parliament, and was also the Indian Ambassador to Burma, Shishir Kumar Bose, a pediatrician and member of the Legislative Assembly, and Subrata Bose, who was also an electrical engineer and member of Parliament. His youngest daughter, Prof. Chitra Ghosh is also a distinguished educationist, a social scientist and a member of Parliament. His grandson, Sumantra Bose, is a professor of comparative politics at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
