The growth of the Internet has revamped the way business and communication used to be done. Search Engines have become extremely powerful and necessary in modern times. With millions of webpages being added every day, search engine optimization I.e. SEO is more of a necessity than a luxury these days. In the field of SEO, Sarvesh Shrivastava is a name that needs no introduction. His SEO skills have been praised in the SEO community for quite some time now. His specialty in creating a blog from scratch and taking it to five figures per month has been a source of inspiration for many.
Today in this interview, Sarvesh Shrivastava has shared the exact process he follows to take a site from barely making money to striking gold! “Selecting the right keywords when writing the content is half the battle won.”, says Sarvesh. “More often than not, it’s the wrong selection of keywords that hampers the growth of a blog more than anything”, added Sarvesh. “For a new site, the best way to go about keyword research is to find the so-called Underserved topics, that is, the topics that haven’t been answered properly.” Sarvesh further adds, “There are several techniques one can follow such as the KGR technique to find the underserved topics in any niche.”
“Once the niche and keyword selection is done, it’s time to set up the site using WordPress and a decent theme. It’s important to make sure the site loads fast because very soon Google would be counting website speed as a ranking signal. Moreover, who doesn’t like a fast loading site?!”, Sarvesh added. “The question I get most often is on link building. For links, I prefer to let my content fetch natural links for me. Although, after the sandbox, period is over, I go for manual outreach as well.”
Upon being asked what kind of links Sarvesh prefers, he answered that he is majorly inclined towards getting Guest post links i.e. links from within the content of other good sites. “The best kind of links are those which are on pages that receive traffic from search engines, especially Google. That’s the secret sauce. Try to get links from websites that Google sends traffic to. If Google is sending them traffic, more often that not Google trusts the site.”
In the interview, Sarvesh revealed how he sells the sites once they reach a certain threshold of income. “It’s important to understand when to sell a site, get the cash in the bank, and repeat the whole process. Website business is volatile because you never know when the next Google update is around the corner and hence it’s better to diversify the risk as much as you can”, said Sarvesh. “These days one can very easily get a 25-30 multiple of monthly revenue of their site if the content is good. Hence, make sure to focus on quality rather than the quantity of content.”
On being asked the one advice he would give to newcomers, Sarvesh said that is very very important to stay consistent with the process and take it as a business rather than taking it as a hobby. “Treat the process as professionally you would treat any other business and it will make you more money than your wildest dreams”, Sarvesh added. Even though with such rapid growth of technology, not everyone is familiar with the power it has to transform lives. A few entrepreneurs like Sarvesh are showing the way to the world how non-traditional ways of doing business is the future!
