Sasural Simar Ka in 2018 and her most recent appearance as the lead in Brahmarakshas 2: Phir Jaag Utha Shaitan, Nikki Sharma is set to make a return to small-screen television for Sonali and Amir Jaffar's upcoming project.

After my last show, I wanted to start a nice project, she claims. I also tried out for other roles, but this one seemed to fit me the best. I am currently taking diction classes for my role as a Rajasthani girl in the play. I believe in fate and reincarnation, and the story is based on Punar Janam. I believe that is the main cause of my excitement. Even Brahmrakshas was concerned with punar janam and fate. Such shows appeal to me, especially if there is a hint of mystery involved. In ten days, the show is anticipated to begin production.

The similarity between the project and the character piqued her interest even more. "I connect a lot with the character," she says. Many aspects of our journey have been quite similar. I was also brought up by a single mother. Like my character, I got my first job at a young age. My mother, who did a wonderful job of raising me alone, required support, so I was unable to finish my education.

The actress admits that she had some doubts about her ability to portray the role, though. "I wasn't ready to audition for the show because I wasn't sure that I would get the diction right," she admits. Even my Hindi has an accent, I informed the filmmakers (laughter!). They were adamant, though, and required that I perform the audition, which went well. They assured me that they would assist me with my diction because they thought I was a good fit for the role. They were encouraging and noticed something in me that I didn't notice in myself. I was able to overcome my anxiety thanks to their confidence in me. I won't deny that I still have some anxiety about it because of the magnitude of the responsibility. There will be a huge audience (from Rajasthan) watching the show, so I feel pressured to perform well in their eyes. But I'm making a lot of effort to play the part I've been given perfectly. I've been watching Balika Vadhu and Diya Aur Baati Hum to get a better sense of my character and the tone of the show.
