Satya Nadella's view on working with leaders

Recently, as guest editor of The Times of India, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was asked what he thought of US President, Donald Trump. To which Nadella said, “Instead of passing value judgements on political leaders, I feel that as the CEO of a multinational, I have a duty to help the citizens of their countries, whether it is small businesses, the public sector, or large businesses. Politics is something different from business, though the intersection is the ability of elected officials to be able to take advantage of new technology to help citizens." Nadella who is known for his unusual business perspectives, including focussing a lot on understanding at the workplace and not ruling out the role of karma in the way things pan out, and the possibility of tweaking current karma for ultimate benefit.

Nadella’s statement only goes to prove that in business as in politics or any another business -- that depends on a great deal on public dynamics -- an ideal situation or suitable environment will remain in the domain of theory, for perfection is something one strives for; it is never attainable in full because the goalposts keep moving, depending on a host of factors. In an imperfect world with not-so-perfect people and institutions, you have to play your role the best you can, taking as many as you can along with you, with empathy and a bit of loving detachment.
