New Delhi: The President of the country Ramnath Kovind has appointed Goa Governor Satyapal Malik as the Governor of Meghalaya. While the post of Governor of Goa will now be replaced by Satyapal Malik, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari will hold his current charge as well. A press release will be issued by the President's office in this regard.

Last year Satyapal Malik was appointed Governor of Goa. Mridula Sinha was the Governor of Goa before Satyapal Malik. On August 5, 2019, when Section 370 was abolished from Jammu and Kashmir, Satyapal Malik was the Governor. During his tenure, Satyapal Malik was entrusted with the responsibility of the administrative machinery and security of the state so that there should be no untoward incident after the change in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the tenure of Satyapal Malik, Jammu Kashmir was divided into two union territories, Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh. While serving as the Governor of Tathagata Rai in Meghalaya, he spent three years as the Governor of Tripura and the remaining two years as the Governor of Meghalaya.
