New Delhi: Jail minister of Delhi's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Satyendar Jain, who has been imprisoned for the last 6 months on charges of money laundering, has approached the Supreme Court seeking an early hearing of his bail plea. As per reports, AAP leader Satyendar Jain has urged the top court to ask the Delhi High Court to hear his bail plea at the earliest.
As per reports, Kejriwal government minister Satyendar Jain has moved the top court challenging the December 1 order of the Delhi High Court seeking a response from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on his bail plea in a money laundering case. Therefore, the Supreme Court will hear the matter on 12 December. A bench of Justice MR Shah and Justice Ravindra Bhat will hear the matter. The Delhi High Court, in its December 1 order, had given three weeks time to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to file its reply on Satyendar Jain's plea.
Satyendar Jain is lodged in Delhi jail for the last 6 months. Using the influence of being the Jail Minister of the Delhi Government, Jain is taking advantage of all kinds of amenities inside the jail, which is against the jail rules. He has also said on ED questions related to corruption that he has lost his memory and does not remember anything. In such a situation, it is becoming difficult for Satyendar Jain to get bail. However, Kapil Sibal, senior advocate and Rajya Sabha member from the Samajwadi Party (SP), is trying his best to get him bail.
